Diaper covers - diaper inserts, boosters and diaper liners

The washable diaper consists of two main parts:

  • Diaper cover, which is the waterproof layer. Today’s modern washable diapers are waterproof, breathable and machine washable. They can be with hook and loop and snap closure.
  • The diaper insert is responsible for retaining moisture, it is the absorbent layer.

Waterproof diaper cover

This is the outside layer, which can be made of different materials. It is waterproof and breathable, which is vital for your baby´s skin.

  • Most diapers are made of PUL, which is a flexible, breathable material. It is usually cotton or a cotton blend that is coated with a layer of polyurethane for water resistance. Practical and easy to wash.

Another material used as the diaper cover, which is 100% natural, is wool. It will be waterproof thanks to the lanolin treatment. The wool is well ventilated. It has a cooling effect for babies in summer and a warming effect in winter.

They can be made of several materials

BAMBOO TERRY

Due to its composition, it has excellent absorbency. That’s why we choose the extra thick bamboo terry absorbent diaper inserts for the Baby Elsa AI2 diaper system.

It is an excellent choice for nighttime or naptime during the day, or if you have a heavy wetter. Bamboo is extremely soft and has an antibacterial effect. It dries slowly and is a little more delicate than cotton. Cloth diaper inserts can go into the dryer. Inserts are made of materials like microfiber, hemp, cotton, and bamboo which are all safe to dry in the dryer. So, you don`t have to worry about the drying time anymore.

HEMP COTTON DIAPER INSERTS

Hemp is an excellent diaper insert because it prevents the formation of bacteria and can hold a lot of moisture. However, it absorbs moisture slowly and dries relatively slowly, so it is worth mixing hemp with other materials to get an excellent and good absorbent diaper insert combination. Baby Elsa hemp cotton inserts are made from 30% hemp and 70% cotton.

PREFOLDS

This can also be considered as a traditional type of diaper insert. It is usually made of 4-8 layers of cotton. Strong, durable, the most versatile absorbent interior because it can always be folded to sizes. The width and the length of the prefold can also be designed to the right size. An extra layer can also be folded for boys and for sleeping babies. It has good absorbency, but it has a bit longer drying time.

MICROFIBER DIAPER INSERTS

Microfiber is a fully synthetic fiber that is very soft, and it holds its shape. The microfiber material quickly absorbs and quickly directs moisture from the inside of the diaper. This keeps the baby's butt completely dry. However, it can also drain the liquid quickly under pressure. Therefore, it is not recommended for wiggly babies.
